Port Blair, March 14: The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs will be organizing an Open Sea Swimming Competition from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dweep to Rajiv Gandhi Wafer Sports Complex, Aberdeen Jetty, Port Blair on March 18, 2023. The last date for submitting the entry form along with indemnity bond and Medical Fitness Certificate is March 15, 2023 by 5 pm in the Office of the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Netaji Stadium. The Swimming trial will be conduct on March 16 from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Swimming Pool, Netaji Stadium. Those who do not attend the selection trial will not be allowed to participate in the competition on March18, 2023.

Port Blair, March 14: As part of the observance of World Water Day 2023 in A&N Island under ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’, various competitions under different categories is being organised by the Andaman State Water and Sanitation Mission (ANSWSM). The last date for participation in different categories was March15, 2023. Now, considering the remoteness of the location, it has been decided to extend the last date of submission to March 20, 2023.

Port Blair, March 14: The National Disaster Alert Portal & Mobile App of CAP Based Integrated Alert System ‘SACHET’ was launched during NPDRR Workshop on March 11,2023 for receiving early warnings/alerts related to disasters being disseminated by Alert Generating Agencies/SDMAs viz. National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Central Water Commission (CWC), Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Forest Survey of India (FSI) and DGRI of DRDO over CAP Platform. The android & iOS version of Mobile App (Sachet) is available on Google Play & Apple App Store.

Port Blair, March 13: During the Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma’s recent visits to various South Andaman villages, a large number of Islanders have raised the issue of continuous load shedding and frequent power cuts in the entire Port Blair and South Andaman region, during the time of final exams in almost all the schools.

In response to the issue raised by the locals, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma took immediate action and met with the Superintending Engineer of the Electricity Department. During the meeting, he urged the Superintending Engineer to take necessary steps to stop load shedding so that students can study comfortably and focus on their exams.
